YES!!! This!!! My late husband dealt with this very issue. In late November 1995, Keith found out that he was no where listed in his children’s school files, instead, their stepfather was named as Father. On December 4th, 1995, he wrote a letter to the SI of the school district, requesting to be added on. He attached a copy of the divorce papers proving that he had JLC of his kids. He wrote, “ I would like the record to show that I am entitled to receive any school records, progress reports, etc. that is pertaining to my children at my home address listed below.” He did exactly what Lawyer Kelly stated. His ex wife was PISSED OFF… on January 5th, 1996, she wrote him a letter telling him, “ you do not have the authority to pick them up from the school or day care. There is no need due to the out of state living and visiting conditions.” She is incorrect. They shared JLC, it’s a CA divorce case and CA, the County of San Diego, still held jurisdiction. She did not have the case transferred to WA state jurisdiction when she moved there in 1993.

I LOVE THIS!

I was reading comments on a friends Facebook wall and one of her friends posted this. I LOVE IT!! I will NOT be silent or quiet.

PLEASE, Take Care of YOU❤️

This goes for anything, but because PA can have such devastating results for targeted parents, I thought I would share it here. PLEASE, PLEASE take care of yourselves as you continue to fight for your kids, take care of your physical and mental health. ❤️❤️

Calling For The Status of Claims

Extended Family: Either parent can sign an authorization for a stepparent, grandparent, or another person to have a copy of the child’s records or discuss the records with someone at the practice. It is a parental right, and the other parent can’t block that without legal documentation.

However, state law on custody can influence this issue. Depending on custody arrangements, it may take both parents to agree. You don’t have access to the custody agreement and its implications. When you are presented with a conflict take the stance of restricting the release until you are presented with an agreement between the parents or a legal document. You do not have to be put in the middle of a parental dispute. Consult your own lawyer if needed.

The Exes and The Current Wife…

Keith and ex wife #1, Jean, were married 11/26/1969. Their son, Rich, was born 25 days later. About two and a half years later, their daughter, Dani was born, in July 1972. Jean started divorce proceedings in July 1977, and they were divorced by May 1978.

Keith and ex wife #2, Denise, were married 6/2/1984. Their son, Rob, was born 3 months and 3 days later. A little more than 2 and a half years later, their daughter, Lizzy, was born in June 1987. Keith had shared with me that their marriage had its good moments, but he realized early on there was something “not right” with Denise. He said that if it wasn’t for the kids, he would never have married her. They separated August 1989, and their divorce was final 11/29/1990.

I had known the sister of Keith’s ex wife #3, Melissa. I had met Melissa through Keith as they lived with my sister and her family for a time. Keith and Melissa had been together since he moved to the metro LA Basin in 1989. They got married at my sister’s house in November 1993. My significant other, Joe, and I attended their wedding, with our daughter who was 3 months old.

In the Spring of 1994, I moved in with my sister as well. I made the decision to take our daughter and leave Joe after I found out he was cheating on me. It seemed like things weren’t going well between the recently married couple either. Melissa wanted to move to Florida to be near her family and Keith was not interested in that at all. He had told me that he was far enough away from his kids as it was with them being in WA State and he in CA, and that moving to FL was going to put him further away from them. He wasn’t going to do that. Melissa has become resentful and was talking stupid, even at one point telling ME that if she ever found out that my sister and Keith were having an affair, she would “k&ll her before the disease did.” My sister was very sick, plus she was also married! How crazy that Melissa would have THAT thought and not believe that Keith’s decision not to go with her was truly about his kids and nothing else. Melissa left sometime between early March and May of 1994.

Keith and I started dating in the summer of 1994. His wife left him to the “Land of Milk and Honey” as he would call it, he had no plans to follow her to Florida and I was single with an infant. He filed for divorce and we became engaged on my birthday, in 1995. Keith and I were married 5/18/1996. He was raising my daughter as his own. He had told me when were dating that we would never go anywhere that she could not go with us. He was the only Daddy she had known. Our son was born 5/22/1997. He was a planned c-section since my daughter had been an emergency c-section in August 1993. While I LOVED being pregnant, pregnancies were hard on me.

Keith and I didn’t separate. We didn’t divorce. I was always thankful that he survived his tour in Vietnam and 3 divorces to get to me. He loved me last, and lived the rest of his life with me. I will ALWAYS feel blessed and thankful for that.

The Beginning-1994

I met my late husband in 1992, when he was living with my sister and her husband. We didn’t start dating until 1994, due to prior commitments, but I always knew we would get married.

When I was free, my baby daughter and I moved in with my sister in March of 1994, in fact, it was my birthday weekend. Keith and I started dating seriously, the summer of 1994. My daughter started talking and immediately started calling Keith “Dada.” I would correct her and say, “No Sarah, That’s Keith.” Eventually, Keith told me, “Don’t correct her. If she wants to call me Daddy, let her.” Amazing. Keith knew that her biological father was not in her life, and HE wanted to take up that torch.

I knew Keith had been married a few times. When telling his/our story, I’ll be referring to his ex wives as Ex Wife #1 and Ex wife #2. I knew he had two kids with ex wife #1, and he had two kids with ex wife #2.

In 1994, his two older kids with ex wife #1 were already young adults when I came into the picture, oldest son was going to be 25 and oldest daughter was going to be 22, and she had a son of her own. These two kids and I were cordial to each other. Their relationship with their Dad was what it was already, before I came into the picture. They saw each other when they saw each other. I never questioned it.

In 1994, his middle two kids with ex wife #2 were minors. Their son was going to be 10 and their daughter was 7. It is the mother of these two that we had all the trouble with, literally, from the time she knew I was in the picture until 3 months after he died, but I’ll get to that as time goes on.

To be continued…..
